Police Chase Ends in Crash After Suzuki Fails to Stop in Kent

High-Speed Chase in Chart Sutton

On Saturday 5 March 2022 at around 10.30pm, Kent Police spotted a suspicious Suzuki Grand Vitara on Park Road. When officers tried to stop the vehicle, the driver ignored them and tried to flee. The chase ended when the car smashed into a tree on Lucks Lane, Chart Sutton.

Two Men Arrested After Foot Pursuit

One man was arrested on the scene. Another attempted to escape on foot through nearby woodland but was quickly caught and detained. A search of the vehicle uncovered cannabis, a kitchen knife, and a half house brick hidden under the driver’s seat. Police also confirmed the car was using a false registration plate.

Serious Charges for Both Men

  • A 21-year-old from Birmingham faces charges including dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving without insurance or a licence, and driving under the influence of drugs.
  • An 18-year-old from Guildford was arrested for possession of a bladed article and possession of cannabis.

Both suspects have been released pending further investigation. Kent Police continue to probe the incident.
