Dylan Mills slapped with community order after pushing woman to the ground in Streatham
Sevenoaks man sentenced for assault in Streatham
Dylan Mills, 37, from Sevenoaks, Kent, was hit with a 24-week community order after being found guilty of common assault. The Croydon Magistrates Court imposed an electronically monitored curfew and ordered Mills to pay £2,190 in costs. He is also subject to a restraining order.
Assault caught on trial at Wimbledon courts
Mills was convicted by a jury following a trial at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on 7 March. The court heard how, on 8 June 2021, Mills got into a violent row with a woman he knew at a Streatham home. During the argument, he shoved his forehead into her head before pushing her to the ground. Police were called and Mills was arrested.
The woman, in her 30s, escaped without serious injury.
Detective calls for women to speak out
“The woman assaulted in this case has demonstrated incredible strength throughout the legal process. I hope her example encourages other 1 experiencing violence to come forward and speak to the police,” said Detective Constable Hannah Barton from Lambeth’s local policing team.
“Tackling violence against women is a top priority for the Met. I hope this sentence sends a clear message to men that assault and intimidation of women won’t be tolerated.”
“No woman should face violence of any kind. If you are in this situation, trust the police – we’ll investigate and support you every step of the way.”
