Violent Late-Night Attack Rocks Herne Bay High Street

Just after midnight on Saturday 14 May 2022, a brutal assault shook Herne Bay’s High Street. A man and a woman were viciously attacked and rushed to hospital by South East Coast Ambulance Service. Thankfully, both have since been discharged.

Four Charged Over Grievous Bodily Harm

East Kent Criminal Investigation Department swiftly swung into action. Four suspects from the area have now been charged:

  • Lewis Jones, 26, Chapman Road, Herne Bay – charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
  • Shannon Cook, 25, Chapman Road, Herne Bay – charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent plus two counts of assault.
  • Bradley Jones, 24, Folkestone Road, Dover – charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
  • Alfie Scott, 32, Fir Tree Walk, Reigate – charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

Alfie Scott Faces Additional Serious Charges

Scott is also under separate investigation by the East Kent Vulnerability Investigation Team. He faces multiple further allegations including:

  • Arson linked to an incident on Talmead Road, Herne Bay, on Sunday 15 May 2022.
  • Assault occasioning actual bodily harm from September 2021 in Herne Bay.
  • A malicious communications offence occurring between 13 and 16 May 2022 in Herne Bay.
  • An additional assault on 14 May 2022 in Herne Bay.

All Four to Face Justice at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court

All suspects are set to appear before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on 18 May. The community awaits justice in what has been a shocking series of violent crimes on the town’s streets.
