British Man Mistaken for Irish in Nepal Plane Crash

A passenger initially described as Irish in Sunday’s tragic Nepal plane crash is actually British. Ruan Calum Crighton, named on Nepal’s Civil Aviation Authority list, was travelling on a UK passport, officials confirmed.

Nationality Mix-Up Cleared

Though Nepalese authorities listed Crighton as Irish, Ireland’s Department of Foreign Affairs quickly clarified he is a UK national.

“The Department of Foreign Affairs can confirm that an individual indicated in reports as being Irish is a UK national,” said an Irish government spokesman.

The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office is now providing consular support to Crighton’s family amid the tragedy.
