Fire Breaks Out Just Before 6pm
The fire started just before 18:00, moments before someone was about to enter the building. Thick, noxious smoke is being whipped inland by a strong sea breeze, causing concern for nearby residents and visitors.
Firefighters Rush to Scene with Heavy Gear
- Two fire engines from Ventnor and Shanklin are already fighting the fire using water jets.
- Additional equipment, including the Aerial Ladder Platform, is en route to help contain the blaze.
Emergency services continue efforts to bring the fire under control as the situation develops.
