Thug Sentenced To Prison After Causing Life Changing Injuries

A man who stabbed a stranger in the neck, causing life-changing injuries, has been sentenced to prison. Issac Isa-Herd, 24, was in Peterborough city centre in the early hours of July 25, last year when he got into a fight with a woman in Broadway. After he punched her in the face, she retaliated by punching him back. Isa-Herd fled the scene down an alleyway next to the Red Room nightclub, but he was pursued by several people. Isa-Herd pulled out a knife and lunged at another woman in the alleyway, cutting her upper arm and swiping at her throat. A woman’s friend, a man in his twenties, attempted to intervene but was stabbed in the neck. Isa-Herd fled, leaving the victim in a pool of blood along Market Way. Officers located the victim and administered life-saving aid before transporting him to Peterborough City Hospital. The victim’s lower forearm and hand had to be amputated due to the severity of the injuries sustained in the attack. Shortly after the incident, Isa-Herd was discovered hiding at the Travel Lodge in New Road, along with the knife he used in the attack. He was charged with wounding with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH), attempting to wound with the intent to cause GBH, and having a knife in a public place. He appeared in Cambridge Crown Court on Tuesday, June 14th, and was sentenced to 16 years in prison, with a four-year extended licence upon release. “This was a completely unwarranted level of violence against two victims, which could have had fatal consequences, tragically leaving a young man with a life changing injury,” said Detective Constable Leeza Phillips, who investigated. I would like to encourage our communities to assist us in preventing knife crime by reporting anyone who carries a knife or weapon to us.” This can be done anonymously and may save a life. “There are far too many people who believe carrying a weapon is acceptable – it is not and will not be tolerated.”
