Police Crack Down on Suspected Drug Dealing

Thanet’s Community Policing Team swooped on Victoria Road on the afternoon of Wednesday, July 6, 2022, after residents tipped them off about suspected drug dealing. When officers approached a crowd, a man made a desperate bid to escape on an e-scooter.

Quick Arrest and Major Drug Bust

Police quickly detained the man and found a rucksack containing cannabis valued at £10,000 on the black market. They also recovered a sum of money believed to be connected to drug sales.

A 25-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman were arrested nearby in Margate on suspicion of possessing drugs with intent to supply. Both have been released on bail as investigations continue.

Community Urged to Report Drug Activity

If residents believe drug dealing is taking place in their street or community, it’s important they report it to kent-police/" title="Kent Police" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked" data-wpil-monitor-id="1976">Kent Police so officers can take action,” said Inspector Ian Swallow of the Thanet Community Safety Unit. “Working together, we can keep Thanet safe and send a clear message that illegal drugs are not welcome in the district.”
