Paedophile Jordan Leigh Courtney Jailed for Four Years

Jordan Leigh Courtney, 25, has been locked up for four years at York Crown Court. Formerly of Cawder Road, Skipton, and now of no fixed address, he was also handed a two-year extended licence and slapped with an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Flouted Court Orders, Hid Horrific Images

Courtney was first convicted in 2016 for making and sharing indecent images of children. Back then, he was banned from owning any device with internet access and ordered to check in weekly at a police station for monitoring.

But in April 2022, after a routine offender meeting, officers discovered Courtney had deleted files from his phone. A quick seizure and forensic analysis by North Yorkshire Police revealed he was hoarding numerous child sex abuse images, including the worst, category A material.

He was sent straight back to prison in June 2022 for breaching his Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

More Disturbing Images Found at Courtneys’ Home

Undeterred, prison officers searched Courtney’s old address and found another hidden phone loaded with even more vile category A images and videos.

Upon release, Courtney was promptly arrested and faced questioning. With overwhelming digital evidence presented, he copped to eight charges related to making, possessing, and distributing the most extreme child abuse images, plus four breaches of his Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Police Condemn ‘Utter Disregard’ for Court Rules

“Courtney showed utter disregard for the restrictions placed upon him by being in possession of these images. He has repeatedly ignored the courts and gone on to amass and share the most disturbing content,” said Detective Constable Tom Sutcliffe from the Online Abuse and Exploitation Team.

“Those who obtain and distribute child abuse material directly contribute to the sexual exploitation of children, as the victims are re-traumatised every time the images are viewed.”

“Thanks to the expertise of North Yorkshire Police’s Digital Forensic Unit and the dedication of the investigators, Courtney could not deny the charges. The evidence uncovered has put him where he belongs – behind bars.”

“This sentence should send a clear message that anyone involved in downloading or sharing indecent images of children will be tracked down and convicted.”

“We are working with international agencies to identify and safeguard the children in the images Courtney gathered and shared.”
