High-Speed Chase Through Radford and Lenton
Chaos erupted on Nottingham’s streets late Thursday night when cops caught sight of a black Audi S3 linked to a disqualified driver in Radford. Officers hit the blue lights to pull the car over – but the driver slammed the accelerator and tore through Radford and Lenton at breakneck speed, including 20mph residential areas.
Driver Ditches Car, Tries to Escape on Foot
The wild chase came to a dramatic end at the junction of St Peter’s Street and New Road, where the suspect abandoned the vehicle and bolted. But the man didn’t outrun the police for long and was quickly caught. Nearby, officers discovered a lock knife discarded in a coat.
26-Year-Old Hit with Multiple Charges
The 26-year-old lad was hauled in on suspicion of:
- Failing to stop
- Dangerous driving
- Driving while disqualified
- Driving without insurance
- Failing to provide breath specimen
- Possession of a bladed article
- Driving under the influence (following breathalyser fail)
Cop’s Warning After Risky Escape
Sergeant Steven Willetts of Nottinghamshire Police said: “The driver showed absolutely no regard for his own safety or that of innocent road users. He drove dangerously through residential streets to escape the police, putting lives at serious risk. This could have ended in disaster for many people. We are committed to protecting the public and will take firm action against anyone who threatens safety in this way.”
