Ex-Cops PS Sharma and DCI Senior Face Misconduct Over Shocking Sexual Harassment Claims
The drama erupted from a 2021 incident where PS Sharma allegedly groped a woman’s thigh and exposed himself. Since then, Sharma has quit the police force amid the scandal.
DCI Senior Accused of Cover-Up and Victim Intimidation
James Senior, formerly a Detective Chief Inspector at 1, is caught up in the controversy too. He reportedly tried to stop the victim from coming forward, telling her there was no evidence, witnesses, or CCTV. He even warned about the impact on their careers and urged her to “go home and sleep on it.” Ironically, Senior once led a scheme against sexual harassment.
Suspicious WhatsApp Messages and Deleted Evidence
Further allegations say Senior tipped off Sharma about the complaint the very night it was made, possibly giving Sharma time to erase evidence. The two exchanged WhatsApp messages on July 30 and 31, 2021, which were deleted before Sharma’s August 1 interview. The messages are said to include “grossly offensive, derogatory, discriminatory, and misogynistic” content.
Misleading Witness Statement and Upcoming Hearing
Senior also faces claims of filing a misleading witness statement, denying he recalled the victim mentioning Sharma’s misconduct and hiding the WhatsApp chats. Both men have now left their police jobs.
The Metropolitan Police will hold a misconduct hearing starting July 12 to investigate the explosive allegations against the former officers.
