Surrey Police have identified three individuals in connection with the heart-wrenching murder investigation of 10-year-old Sara Sharif. An international manhunt is currently underway for Urfan Sharif, 41, Beinash Batool, 29, and Faisal Shahzad Malik, 28, as law enforcement officials strive to uncover the truth surrounding the tragic incident.
Sara’s body was discovered by the police at a residence in Woking, Surrey, on August 10, prompting a comprehensive investigation. Her father, Urfan Sharif, and his partner, Beinash Batool, along with Sara’s uncle, Faisal Shahzad Malik, and five children between the ages of one and 13, are believed to have left the UK for Pakistan on August 9, the day before Sara’s body was found.
The formal identification of Sara’s body was confirmed following DNA testing, affirming her tragic fate. A post-mortem examination revealed that Sara had suffered “multiple and extensive injuries” that are likely to have occurred over an extended period.
While the cause of Sara’s death is yet to be fully established, further tests are underway to provide a clearer understanding. Urfan Sharif’s call to emergency services on August 10 from Islamabad, expressing concern for his daughter’s safety, added another layer of complexity to the investigation.
The travel records of the suspects shed light on their movements. Urfan Sharif had booked eight plane tickets – three for adults and five for children – for his family’s journey to Pakistan. The tickets, valued at approximately £5,100, were acquired through travel agent Nadeem Riaz, who noted that Sharif’s initial communication seemed entirely normal.
Police have been collaborating with international authorities to track down the trio and are urging any witnesses or individuals with pertinent information to come forward. The absence of a formal extradition treaty between the UK and Pakistan complicates the situation.
Urfan Sharif and Faisal Shahzad Malik both hold Pakistani passports, while Beinash Batool and the five children possess Pakistani NICOP cards, facilitating travel to Pakistan without requiring visas.
As the investigation continues, officers remain present at the property on Hammond Road in Horsell, near Woking town centre. The local community, along with the rest of the nation, mourns the tragic loss of young Sara Sharif, leaving heartfelt messages and flowers at the scene in memory of the young girl whose life was tragically cut short.
