Armed Man Arrested After Gun Threat and Fire in North London
Police rushed to Junction Road, N19, just after midday on Sunday, July 24, following reports of a domestic disturbance and gunfire. On arrival, officers found a fire blazing at the property.
Armed Standoff Ends With Taser and Arrest
An armed man was threatening to shoot a member of the public, but officers quickly detained him. A suspected firearm was seized at the scene. The 25-year-old suspect was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm, carrying an offensive weapon, and arson. A Taser was used during the arrest.
Minor Injuries and Ongoing Investigation
The man was taken to hospital as a precaution, suffering only minor injuries. No one else was hurt during the incident. Emergency services, including the London Ambulance Service and Fire Brigade, assisted at the scene.
“I would like to thank the members of the public for contacting us and assisting us in locating this dangerous man,” said Commander Kyle Gordon, head of firearms at the Met.
“While incidents like this are thankfully rare, my colleagues once again showed how quickly they stand between the public and harm.”
The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards has been informed, and the investigation continues.
