Police Hunt for Missing Chinese Woman Last Seen in Barnet
Young Woman Vanishes After Arriving Alone at Heathrow
Shuyi Xu, a Chinese national, landed solo at Heathrow Airport from China on Friday, 23 December. She is believed to have stayed in Shoreditch and Whitechapel, East London. But trouble began when she was spotted by airport staff again on Thursday, 29 December. Concerned for her welfare, staff alerted police, who took her into protection before handing her over to local authorities.
Disappears Without a Trace from Barnet Residence
Despite efforts to keep her safe, Shuyi vanished from a Barnet address at around 2:30pm on Wednesday, 4 January. Since then, she hasn’t been seen. Police are scrambling with local agencies to track her down. So far, there’s no evidence she’s been harmed, but officers are very worried about her safety.
Last Seen Wearing White Jumper and Black Skirt
Shuyi speaks Mandarin and limited English. Detectives say this was likely her first time in the UK, and she’s unfamiliar with London life. She was last spotted wearing a white jumper, black skirt, and white flat shoes.
Detective Inspector Daniel Branch, North West Command Unit: “We’re piecing together her movements and who she might have been with. I urge Shuyi or anyone who’s seen her to contact us immediately.”
If you have any information on Shuyi’s whereabouts, call police on 101, quoting reference 23MIS000414.
