The A3036 Wandsworth Road at the junction of Union Road in Southwest London was closed overnight due to a collision investigation . A vehicle was pursued by officers from the Met and failed to stop. A short time after the vehicle crashed and burst into flames. Four people were arrested and remain in custody in reference to the theft of vehicle The two men have been arrested for the Police chase and other offences The road was closed at around 1.30 am on Monday morning. Collision investigation work has taken place overnight and the road has since reopened at around 6.40 am. A spokesman for the Met Police said:
At around 01:49hrs on Monday, 9 January a Land Rover Discovery was involved in a single-vehicle collision in Wandsworth Road, close to the junction with Union Grove, in Lambeth.
The driver had failed to stop for police nearby.
As a result of the collision, the vehicle overturned and caught fire. The London Fire Brigade assisted.
Four men were arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, failing to stop for police and aggravated vehicle theft.
There were no reports of any serious injuries.
