Detectives Investigating A Robbery In Which A Woman Was Punched In The Face Have Arrested A Suspect.

The victim was waiting for a bus when she was approached by a man in Alfreton Road, Nottingham, close to the junction with Palin Street, at around 7.30am on 27 January 2023.

He tried to seize the woman’s mobile phone and, when she resisted, struck her before grabbing the device from her hand.

The victim was knocked to the floor and left with injuries to her eye, cheek and upper lip.

The man then ran off along Alfreton Road, towards Bentinck Road.

Officers have analysed footage from a number of CCTV cameras at businesses close to the scene.

A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery when officers tracked him down in Lower Parliament Street, Nottingham, at around 5.40am on Tuesday (31 January).

T/Detective Constable Kate Gledhill, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was an unpleasant robbery on a woman who was on her way to work.

“We are determined to get justice for the victim and I am pleased we now have a suspect in custody as our investigation continues.”
