Woman Assaulted in Early Morning Mobile Phone Robbery in Nottingham

A woman waiting for a bus on Alfreton Road, Nottingham, was attacked during a shocking robbery at around 7.30am on 27 January 2023. The incident happened near the junction with Palin Street.

Thug Tries to Snatch Phone, Leaves Victim Injured

The attacker lunged for the victim’s mobile phone. When she fought back, he hit her before ripping the device from her hand. The victim was knocked to the floor, suffering injuries to her eye, cheek, and upper lip.

The assailant then fled along Alfreton Road towards Bentinck Road, leaving the victim bruised and shaken.

Police Pin Down Suspect Using CCTV Footage

Officers scoured CCTV from nearby businesses to track down the suspect. A 35-year-old man was arrested in Lower Parliament Street, Nottingham, early on 31 January, just days after the attack.

“This was an unpleasant robbery on a woman who was on her way to work,” said T/Detective Constable Kate Gledhill of Nottinghamshire Police. “We are determined to get justice for the victim and I am pleased we now have a suspect in custody as our investigation continues.”

Police Appeal for Witnesses
