City Centre Birthday Bash Turns Violent
A brutal attack has shocked the city after a 20-year-old woman celebrating a friend’s birthday was punched unconscious in Old Market Square.
Innocent Night Out Ends in Horror
Just before 2am on March 12, the victim and her friends were walking through the square when a group of unknown men approached. When she ignored their attempts to engage, one grabbed her hair and punched her hard in the face before the gang fled.
The assault left the woman with facial fractures and a bleed on the brain.
Police Hunt Man in CCTV Snap
Detective Constable Daisy Hough said: “This young woman just wanted to enjoy a birthday night out – she should have felt safe. Instead, her evening was ruined by a savage, unprovoked attack.”
“We have released a CCTV image of a man who could help us with our investigations. If you recognise him – or are him – contact us immediately.”
