Tragic St Austell Crash: Woman Killed, Driver Flees Scene

Fatal Crash on Bodmin Road

A shocking collision on the B3274 Bodmin Road near St Austell has left a woman dead and police hunting for crucial witnesses. The fatal smash happened at around 10.20pm last Friday, 13th October 2023.

White Moped and Silver Van Involved

The crash involved a white moped and a silver Vauxhall Vivaro van. The van driver fled the scene immediately after the collision. Tragically, the moped rider, a woman in her 50s from the St Austell area, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her family has been informed.

Man Arrested, Investigation Underway

Police arrested a 28-year-old local man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, leaving the scene, and driving under the influence of drink or drugs. He has since been released on bail pending further inquiries.

The B3274 Bodmin Road was closed temporarily while officers carried out an on-site investigation. The Roads Policing Team thanked the public for their patience during the closure.
