At around 7:29 PM, two fire engines arrived on the scene and found a small fire on the house landing. Crews quickly doused the flames with a high-pressure hose reel jet, preventing serious damage.
One Minor Injury as Candle Sparks Fire
One person suffered a minor leg burn and was given first aid by fire crews before being handed over to SECAmb paramedics for further treatment. The blaze was ruled accidental, caused by the careless disposal of a hot candle. The candle ignited some rubbish, which spread to a nearby carpet and started the fire.
