NCA Snaps Two Wanted Sudanese Over Channel Tragedy

National Crime Agency officers have arrested two Sudanese men, aged 19 and 24, wanted by French police over the death of a young girl trying to cross the English Channel in a small boat.

Tragic Crossing Ends in Death

The fatal incident occurred on April 23 when the girl boarded a vessel near Wimereux. The boat crossed into UK waters where the occupants, including children, were brought ashore in Kent.

Suspects Nabbed in London

The pair were detained at a property in London’s Hillingdon area on May 30. They are suspected of involvement in the girl’s death and now face extradition proceedings.

Extradition Begins, Justice in Sight

At Westminster Magistrates on June 1, the men were remanded in custody ahead of their next hearing on June 7. Craig Turner, NCA Deputy Director of Investigations, said:

“These arrests are the result of a joint investigation led by French authorities and supported by the NCA and other law enforcement partners. We remain committed to identifying those responsible for this tragic event and bringing them to justice.”
