Police Warn Dog Owners: Control Your Pets or Face Serious Consequences
Sergeant Fiona Munro slammed careless dog owners, saying, “It is the responsibility of the dog owner to ensure that they control their dog on agricultural land.”
“Many owners underestimate their dog’s potential for harm. What starts as innocent fun can turn deadly. Dogs unfamiliar with livestock often get excited and noisy, scaring sheep into panic with devastating results.”
“Landowners have the legal right to shoot dogs chasing livestock and can seek compensation from the owner. Don’t take the risk—keep your dog on a lead if you’re unsure.”
Police Appeal for Witnesses as Investigation Continues
