Newmarket Police Officer Injured In Hit-and-run Incident

In a distressing incident early this morning in Newmarket, a police officer was injured in a fail-to-stop road traffic collision. The collision occurred on The Avenue, shortly after 2:45 am today, Sunday 12 November.

The officer, a female, was on foot when she was struck by a vehicle that failed to stop after the incident. She sustained injuries and was subsequently taken to the hospital. Fortunately, her injuries are not described as life-changing or life-threatening.

The vehicle involved in the collision is believed to be light in colour and was travelling from the direction of High Street into The Avenue at the time of the incident.

The local police are now appealing for witnesses to the collision. They are particularly keen to hear from three individuals seen on foot in The Avenue around the time of the incident, as they are believed to be potential witnesses.

Additionally, motorists who were driving in the area at the time and have dashcams installed in their vehicles are urged to review their footage for any material that may assist in the investigation.
