Frazier Furlong, a 27-year-old man of no fixed abode, has admitted guilt to a series of crimes committed over a two-week period in Worthing, marking the conclusion of a troubling crime spree in the area.
Furlong was convicted on an array of charges, including three counts of assaulting an emergency worker, two counts of burglary, two counts of obstructing a constable, theft, fraud, attempted burglary, possession of cocaine, and five counts of criminal damage. These incidents occurred between October 28 and November 8.
The crime spree began on October 28, when Furlong attempted to break into a residence on Poulters Lane but was unsuccessful. He then proceeded to another property on Offington Drive, where he caused damage to a television and a car parked in the driveway.
Following his initial arrest, Furlong was taken to Worthing Custody Centre, where he assaulted an officer. His criminal activities continued on November 2, with break-ins at two pubs located on Warwick Street and Brighton Road in Worthing, where he stole alcohol. Later that day, he smashed a car window and resisted arrest.
On November 8, Furlong’s actions escalated as he stole an Xbox from Currys in Lyons Farm, sold it at a pawn shop, and subsequently smashed the windows of two shops on Brighton Road and Warwick Street. During his subsequent arrest, he once again assaulted an officer, resisted arrest, and was found in possession of cocaine.
Detective Inspector Gary Jacobs said: “Furlong committed a number of offences in quick succession and the team worked tirelessly to ensure he is held accountable for his actions in a short time period.
“I hope that when he is sentenced, he will no longer have the opportunity to offend for a considerable amount of time and will have the time to rehabilitate.”
Furlong pleaded guilty to all 16 offences when he appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 10 November and was remanded in custody.
He is due to appear at a court to be fixed on Friday, 1 December for sentencing.
