Multiple Break-Ins Across Sheffield City Centre
Glen Thackarey, from Eastern Avenue, Sheffield, appeared at Sheffield Crown Court on Friday, 10 November. He pleaded guilty to two home burglaries and several commercial break-ins in Sheffield city centre.
The court heard how Thackarey smashed his way into properties between September 2022 and January 2023, making off with parcels, a wallet, and a Burberry purse valued at £150.
Police Praise Resolution of the Case
“Thackarey has been wanted by us for months,” said Temporary Detective Sergeant Susan Fox. “I’m pleased he’s now behind bars. Burglary hurts victims deeply, and we hope this sentence brings justice.”
Thackarey initially denied the charges at Sheffield Crown Court on 15 August 2023 but flipped to guilty at the start of his trial. The judge handed down his three-year sentence on 10 November 2023.
