Home Secretary Admits Using ‘Unparliamentary’ Language About Labour MP
Home Secretary James Cleverly has finally owned up to calling Labour MP Alex Cunningham a “sh** MP,” insiders reveal. The admission flies in the face of his earlier denials and has sparked fury all round.
‘Sh** MP’ Slur at PMQs Sparks Row
The explosive incident took place during Prime Minister’s Questions on October 1, when Cunningham grilled the Government over soaring child poverty in Stockton North. Afterwards, Cunningham claimed Cleverly muttered the offensive insult, calling the constituency a “sh**hole.” The audio was reportedly checked multiple times, backing Cunningham’s account.
Tory Supporters Deny Insult, But Source Says Otherwise
While Conservative Party chairman Richard Holden dismissed the outcry, insisting no Tory MP would use such language, a close source confirmed Cleverly’s apology and admitted the “unparliamentary” jab had been made.
“He would never criticise Stockton,” the source said. “He’s campaigned there and is clear it is a great place.”
But Cunningham remains adamant the insult was thrown, calling Cleverly’s earlier denials “simply not true” and expressing disbelief over the attempts to brush the incident under the carpet.
