Tragic Blaze Claims Woman’s Life in Hackney Flat
A devastating fire in Hackney has left a woman in her 40s dead after firefighters fought desperately to save her.
Fire Erupts at Ground-Floor Flat on Homerton High Street
The London Fire Brigade and Metropolitan Police are probing the cause of the blaze that broke out early Saturday morning at Nisbet House. Around 8:23am, emergency services received seven frantic calls reporting the fire.
About 30 firefighters from Homerton, Leyton, Stoke Newington, and nearby stations rushed to the scene, battling the flames until 9:39am when the fire was finally brought under control.
No Suspicion of Foul Play, Investigation Ongoing
The Met police confirmed the victim’s next of kin have been informed and expressed condolences. “Our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time,” a spokesperson said. They also stressed there is currently no suspicion of foul play.
London Fire Brigade added: “Six fire engines and around 30 firefighters responded to a fire in a five-storey building on Homerton High Street. Part of the ground-floor flat was damaged. Sadly, a woman was found and pronounced dead at the scene.”
