Man Charged With Rape and Fraud Offences in Wakefield

A 43-year-old man has been charged with multiple serious offences, including rape and fraud, committed in the Wakefield area.

Steven Phillips, of no fixed abode, faces charges of two counts of rape, sexual assault, sexual assault by penetration, controlling and coercive behaviour, and fraud. The fraud charge pertains to fraudulently obtaining £16,500 from an elderly male victim, while the other charges involve offences against an adult female victim.

Phillips was arrested on Tuesday, charged, and subsequently remanded in custody. He appeared at Leeds Magistrates’ Court today (Thursday, 3 October) and was further remanded in custody. He is due to appear at Leeds Crown Court on 31 October.
