Man Charged with Rape and £16,500 Fraud in Wakefield

Steven Phillips, 43, has been hit with a string of serious charges in Wakefield. The no fixed abode man faces two counts of rape, sexual assault, sexual assault by penetration, controlling and coercive behaviour, plus fraud.

Legal Proceedings Underway

Phillips was arrested on Tuesday and quickly charged. He was remanded in custody and appeared at Leeds Magistrates’ Court today (Thursday, 3 October). He remains behind bars and is set to appear at Leeds Crown Court on 31 October.

“Phillips’ range of offences include both serious sexual crimes and financial fraud,” police said.
