Tragic Blast Claims Life of 7-Year-Old Archie York in Newcastle

The family of seven-year-old Archie York have paid a heartfelt tribute after the young boy died in a devastating explosion on Violet Close, Newcastle, in the early hours of Wednesday. Archie was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Family Mourns “Best Friend” Archie

Archie’s devastated parents, Katherine and Robbie, are being supported by specially-trained officers. In an emotional statement, they called Archie more than just their son – he was their “best friend”.

“Archie was not only our son but our best friend. He lit up every room he went in, whether with his cheeky smile or cheeky words,” the grieving parents said. “We are broken as a family, but Archie lives on in his baby brother Finley, who is his spitting image. Archie was small but had a heart of gold – everyone loved him.”

“We also thank everyone who shared their love at Archie’s balloon release. We are still trying to wake up from this nightmare, but Archie will always be in our hearts. We love you, Archie York. Forever 7.”

Ongoing Police Investigation

Northumbria Police Superintendent Darren Adams extended his condolences to Archie’s family and urged the public to respect their privacy during this tragic time.

“Our thoughts are with Archie’s loved ones. He lost his life in truly tragic circumstances. We ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy.”

The cause of the explosion remains under investigation. Police cordons continue to secure the scene as Northumbria Police work closely with Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service and other agencies to uncover what happened.

“We are determined to provide answers. We urge the public to avoid speculation both online and offline. Thank you for the ongoing support and cooperation,” Supt Adams added.
