Mother Killed in North London Drive-By Shooting: Police Investigate If She Was Wrong Place, Wrong Time

Detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of Michelle Sadio, 46, who was killed in a suspected drive-by attack outside a wake in North London on Saturday night. Police believe she may not have been the intended target of the attack, which left two men seriously injured.

Shooting Shocks Local Community

Witnesses described the harrowing moment when a car drove slowly past a crowd of 120 people leaving the River of Life Elim Pentecostal Church on Gifford Road around 9:15 PM.

One witness who has asked not to be named said

“The car with the gunmen drove past the church once, did a loop, then came back and blasted into the crowd. It was clear they were looking for someone. There were eight shots, very close together. I think for sure the woman was not the target and she was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

Another witness, a mother-of-two, described the scene:

“The car was going so slow it looked like they were looking for someone. It’s very frightening for us. There is a lot of gang crime around here.”

Victims and Investigation

Michelle, described as a “brilliant woman” by friends, died at the scene despite efforts by paramedics. Two men, both in their 30s, were also shot. One remains in critical condition, while the other sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Police have not made any arrests, but officers are reviewing video footage and appealing for witnesses. A cordon remains in place around the scene as forensic teams continue their work, and flowers have been left at the site in tribute to Michelle.

Community Reacts

Michelle’s death has devastated her family and community. A friend shared:

“She was a light in all of our lives. She adored her children and worked hard to give them a happy life.”

Superintendent Tony Josephs called the incident “a truly shocking act of violence” and urged anyone with information to come forward:

“A family has been left devastated, and we need to work together to provide them with answers.”
