Plymouth Knife Horror: One Hospitalized After Street Stabbing, Attacker on the Run

A massive police operation is underway in Plymouth after a person was stabbed in the street on Wednesday evening, January 22. The victim, whose condition is currently unknown, was rushed to hospital following the attack, which police have described as an “isolated incident.

Incident Overview

The stabbing occurred in the West Hoe area of the city, prompting an extensive emergency response. Officers cordoned off the scene as paramedics treated the victim before transporting them to Derriford Hospital.

Eyewitnesses reported a heavy police presence, including armed units, and a police drone was spotted circling overhead as the search for the suspect intensified. The area remains cordoned off as police continue their investigation.

Manhunt Underway

A large-scale manhunt is underway to locate the attacker, with police conducting house-to-house inquiries and using advanced technology to track potential leads.

Detective Chief Inspector Dave Pebworth stated, “We have a large police presence in the area, and enquiries are ongoing to locate and arrest the suspect. We believe this is an isolated incident and there is no immediate threat to the wider public.”

Police Downplay Terror Fears

Although the nature of the attack initially raised concerns among residents, police have been quick to dismiss fears of terrorism, emphasizing that it was an isolated incident and that the victim and attacker are believed to have known each other.

Community Reaction

The stabbing has shocked the local community, with residents expressing their alarm. A local shopkeeper near the scene said, “This kind of thing doesn’t happen here. It’s a quiet area, so it’s frightening to see all the police activity.”

“If you have any information that can assist with our investigation, we urge you to contact us online or by calling 101 and quoting log number 756 of 22/01/25,” DCI Pebworth said.

Alternatively, those wishing to remain anonymous can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Public Safety Advice
