Authorities Urge Residents to Stay Clear

Southampton police Detective Sergeant Gina Laferrera issued a statement:

“Please stay clear of the areas. Additional road closures may occur due to the ever-changing situation.”

The Suffolk County Fire Rescue and Emergency Services declined to provide further details, confirming that emergency crews were fully mobilized to tackle the fire.

Weather Conditions Worsening Fire Severity

  • Meteorologists warn that strong northwest winds reaching 35 mph and low humidity are increasing the fire risk.
  • Bryan Ramsey, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, explained:

“The main reason for the risk is strong winds and low humidity, which can lead to rapid fire spread. We urge people to use extreme caution with potential ignition sources.”

Residents Urged to Evacuate as Response Continues

  • Several residents have been evacuated, and more evacuations may follow as conditions worsen.
  • Authorities have yet to confirm the extent of damage or whether any injuries have been reported.
