Default Heading H1
Former U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened to unleash what he calls “the most powerful and lethal weapons ever built” if Russia follows through on supplying nuclear warheads to Iran.
Trump made the provocative remarks via his Truth Social platform on Monday morning (24 June), just one day after U.S. airstrikes reportedly targeted Iranian nuclear sites with 75 precision-guided munitions.
“Did I hear Former President Medvedev, from Russia, casually throwing around the ‘N word’ (Nuclear!)…?” Trump posted, referencing Russian official Dmitry Medvedev.
Trump questioned whether Medvedev had genuinely suggested a nuclear transfer to Tehran, adding:
“If confirmed, please let me know, IMMEDIATELY.”
U.S. Nuclear Arsenal Warning
In the same post, Trump shifted focus to the capabilities of the U.S. military, specifically mentioning nuclear submarines and their firepower:
“They are the most powerful and lethal weapons ever built… All 30 [Tomahawks] hit their mark perfectly.”
His post appeared to be both a message to America’s adversaries and a boast of the U.S. military’s supremacy.
Context: Airstrikes on Iran & Escalating Rhetoric
This follows a weekend of intensified conflict, in which the U.S. and Israel coordinated aerial assaults on key Iranian sites in Isfahan, Bushehr, and Yazd, igniting retaliation from Tehran and heightening global tensions.
Trump has repeatedly expressed disdain for what he perceives as weakness from other leaders. His post lauded the effectiveness of the airstrikes and suggested the most powerful American weaponry has yet to be revealed to the public.
Global Reactions and Fallout
While Russia has not officially confirmed plans to supply Iran with nuclear arms, Trump’s comments risk deepening geopolitical tensions amid the current crisis.
The UK Foreign Office and NATO allies have yet to formally respond to Trump’s statement, but security experts warn that such rhetoric raises the stakes of escalation, especially with nuclear-capable nations involved.
