Blaze Erupts at Portsmouth High-Rise – Fire Crews Race to the Rescue
Firefighters from Southsea, Cosham, Portchester, Fareham and Havant sprang into action this afternoon tackling a blaze at Barkis House in Portsmouth.
Fire Breaks Out on Third Floor
The fire ignited in the external bin chute on the third floor of the tower block. Crews quickly donned breathing apparatus and deployed powerful jets and hose reels to douse the flames.
Smoke Ventilation Clears the Air
Firefighters also used positive pressure ventilation to clear the thick smoke from the building, ensuring safety for all residents.

The fire was stamped out just after 3pm, with no injuries reported. Emergency teams hailed the swift response for preventing what could have been a major disaster.
