Shock as Scooter Rage Hits Two Elderly Women in Welling
Two elderly women, including a woman in her 90s, were knocked over by a hit-and-run mobility scooter rider in Welling yesterday. The shocking incident happened around midday at a bus stop on Upper Wickham Lane near Cotton Road.
Mobility Scooter Rider Reverses and Flees
Eyewitnesses say the man, who appeared to be smoking a cigarette, reversed his mobility scooter into the pair before speeding off. The victims were left stunned but uninjured.
Police Probe Underway After Shocking Incident
The Met Police confirmed they received a call at 1:35pm on June 14 from a bystander who witnessed the crash and filmed it. A spokeswoman said:
“A man on a mobility scooter collided with two elderly women in Upper Wickham Lane and made off. We were told the women were not injured. The caller had footage and was advised to bring it to a police station.”
Public Outrage on Social Media
The video quickly went viral on Twitter, sparking fury online. One user raged, “This is just awful. It makes me so angry.” Another slammed the scooter rider as a “feral scumbag.”
Police continue to investigate and urge anyone with information to come forward.
