Rugby Man Jailed Over £1,000 Cocaine Bust in Cemetery
A 20-year-old Rugby man has been locked up after cops caught him with nearly £1,000 worth of cocaine during a dramatic cemetery bust.
Drug Deal Spotted in Cemetery
On January 10, officers from Rugby’s Proactive CID spotted a suspected drug deal in the Lower Hillmorton Road cemetery. Pires Williams was immediately identified and arrested at the scene. Police seized cash and mobile phones linked to the crime.
Almost 10 Grams of Cocaine Found
A search uncovered 9.48 grams of Class A cocaine, split into 17 individual cling film wraps — valued at around £1,000. Williams, of Winfield Street, was charged with possession with intent to supply.
Exclusive: Police Praise and Prison Sentence
Williams pleaded guilty and received a hefty sentence of three years and four months at Coventry Crown Court on Friday, March 18.
“We are delighted Williams is now behind bars,” Detective Constable Thomas Quinlan said. “We know only too well the damage drugs can cause and urge the public to keep helping us by reporting suspicious activity.”
