Brutal Night-Time Attack Rocks Newark – Police Hunt Three Suspects Caught on CCTV
Just after 2am on Sunday, March 26, trouble erupted on Middle Gate, Newark, when two brothers were viciously set upon by a gang of three men.
Unprovoked Assault Leaves One Unconscious
The pair had been enjoying a night out, hopping between pubs. On their way to The Duck pub, the attack struck. One 39-year-old man was slammed unconscious and rushed to Queen’s Medical Centre. His brother escaped with minor injuries.
Police Release CCTV Snaps, Urge Public for Help
Detective Inspector Paul Lefford slammed the “horrendous attack” and vowed to catch those responsible.
“This was an horrendous attack on two brothers enjoying a night out in Newark with friends,” said DI Lefford. “We are determined to catch the people responsible for this completely unprovoked attack.”
Officers have now released CCTV images of the three suspects. They are eager for anyone recognising the men—or the men themselves—to come forward immediately.
Calls for Witnesses and First Aiders to Step Up
DI Lefford appealed to those who helped administer first aid at the scene and anyone who was around Middle Gate at the time to get in touch.
“We know some good Samaritans helped the victim after the attack. We urge you and anyone who saw anything to assist our investigation,” he added.
