48 Hours of Chaos: London Emergency Services Pushed to the Limit

Emergency crews faced a brutal 48 hours as major incidents rocked Croydon, New Cross, and Lambeth. Police, firefighters, and paramedics worked nonstop from Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning, tackling violence, tragedy, and fire.

Stabbing Shocker Near West Croydon Station

Tuesday night turned violent at 6.50pm on London Road, near Oakfield Road and West Croydon station. Police rushed in after reports of a stabbing. Two men, aged 20 and 31, were found injured.

Both victims remain hospitalised but, thankfully, officials say their injuries are not life-threatening. A police cordon sealed off nearby shops as detectives launched a full investigation.

Tragic Death on New Cross Road: Cyclist Killed

Just over an hour later at 8.35pm, tragedy struck New Cross Road. A 39-year-old woman cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene after a serious collision.

The driver of a lorry, a 47-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. Police have cordoned off the area as inquiries continue.

Blaze Erupts in Lambeth Flats: Firefighters Race to Rescue

The horror continued early Wednesday morning at 8.05am with a huge fire on Barrington Road in Lambeth. Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters battled the fierce blaze.

Flats on the fifth and sixth floors were gutted. Over 20 residents evacuated, including four children rushed to hospital as a precaution.

The fire’s cause is still under investigation as emergency teams work tirelessly to understand what sparked the disaster.
