Rush Hour Chaos on M2 After Three-Car Smash
Crash Brings Traffic to a Standstill
A three-car collision has ground the westbound M2 to a halt, causing nine-mile tailbacks during the morning rush. The crash happened just after 8am between junction 5 (A249 Sittingbourne/Stockbury Roundabout) and junction 4 (A278 Hoath Way, Gillingham).
Emergency crews – police, firefighters, and paramedics – raced to the scene. One lane remains closed as they work to clear the mess.
Massive Delays Across Kent
- Traffic queues stretch back nine miles to junction 6 for Faversham.
- Tailbacks also clog the A249 from Bobbing Roundabout near Sittingbourne.
- Drivers face delays of 90 minutes or more as clean-up continues.
Oil Spill Worsens Delays
A spokesman for National Highways revealed: “Traffic is being held whilst the oil spilt from the collision is cleared from the road.”
Fortunately, only minor injuries have been reported at this stage.
