The M1 northbound remains closed this evening between Junction 26 for Nottingham and Junction 27 for Mansfield as emergency services deal with an ongoing incident.

National Highways confirmed the motorway remained shut to northbound traffic late on Sunday, 23 August, with emergency crews at the scene.

In an update issued at 10.52pm, National Highways East Midlands said:

“The M1 northbound between J26 (Nottingham) and J27 (Mansfield). Road remains closed at this time. Emergency services are on scene. Traffic caught within the closure is expected to be released soon.”

Vehicles have been caught within the closure while emergency services carry out their work, although arrangements are being made to release trapped traffic.

Motorists heading north are being advised to expect significant disruption and delays and to use alternative routes where possible.
