All lanes reopen after dramatic A3 crash near Havant
Police have cleared the lane closures on the A3 between Junction 5 and Junction 4 near Havant following a serious collision that required fire crews to rescue a trapped driver.
Firefighters battle to free trapped driver
Firefighters from Cosham and Havant were called to the scene at around 5.50pm. They discovered a car smashed into the central reservation barrier. Using specialist cutting tools, crews had to remove the vehicle’s roof to free the driver, who suffered a neck injury.
Fire crews worked swiftly to cut the driver free and get them to safety,” a spokesman said.
The injured motorist was rushed to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham by ambulance.
Massive delays on A3 motorway
The crash caused long delays with lane closures on both the northbound and southbound carriageways of the A3M while emergency services worked at the scene.
All lanes have now reopened, easing traffic back to normal.
