Father and Son Open Fire at Bondi Hanukkah Festival

Horror struck Bondi Beach as a father and son unleashed a brutal shooting spree during a Hanukkah festival. Naveed Akram, 24, and his 50-year-old dad rained down terror on families celebrating at the iconic Sydney beach.

The pair fired roughly 50 bullets from a pedestrian footbridge, targeting innocent civilians. Chilling drone footage captured one gunman firing wildly before elite police snipers took him down. His father kept shooting, reloading behind cover, before finally surrendering to officers.

Death Toll Climbs to 16 – Victims Aged 10 to 87

The tragic rampage claimed 16 lives, including a 10-year-old child and victims up to 87 years old. Over 40 people were injured, some critically, with several children rushed to Sydney Children’s Hospital.

Among the dead is British-born Rabbi Eli Schlanger, a beloved father of five, who was celebrating the festival with his family.

Eyewitnesses spoke of heartbreaking heroism amid the chaos. One hero, Alex Kleytman, died shielding his wife of 50 years.

Prime Minister Condemns Attack as Terrorism

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese slammed the shooting as a hateful terrorist act. “There is no place for this hate in our nation,” he declared, vowing tough action to stamp out terror threats across Australia.

But questions are mounting over the police and intelligence response. ASIO revealed one gunman was known to them but not seen as a current threat. “We need to investigate what happened,” admitted ASIO Director-General Mike Burgess.

Tributes Flood Bondi as City Mourns

Emotional scenes unfolded as police swarmed the site and arrested the surviving gunman. Heartbroken locals laid flowers at Bondi Pavilion in tribute to the victims.

National leaders joined the grieving community in honouring those lost. Sydney reels from one of its darkest nights as the nation unites to mourn and reject hatred.
