Shocking robbery of disabled man in broad daylight – police release CCTV snap
Vulnerable victim attacked on Swindon street
Swindon police are hunting a thief who mugged a disabled man in broad daylight. The shocking attack happened just after 1pm on Saturday, August 7, on Inglesham Road. The victim, in his 40s, is paralysed down his left side and uses a wheeled frame to get around.
He was violently knocked to the ground as the crook ripped a holdall bag from his shoulder. The fall caused him to hit his head on concrete, but thankfully he didn’t need hospital treatment.
Stolen goods include shopping and cigarettes
The stolen bag contained his shopping, including boxes of cigarettes. Police have been combing CCTV footage from the area to track down the suspect.
Police release image of man they want to question
Officers have now released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to in connection with the robbery.
PC Jamie Brown said: “While we appreciate this image isn’t the clearest, we believe someone out there will recognise this man. The victim was very vulnerable and has been left shaken and upset. If you know anything, please call us immediately.”
Anyone with information is urged to call PC Brown on 101 quoting crime reference 54210076865, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
