Man Stabbed to Death in Dorset, Woman Critical After Horrific Attack
Dorset Police scrambled to a home in Higher Langham at 7.30pm on Wednesday 7 April 2021 after a welfare concern was raised. What officers found was shocking.
An elderly man in his 80s and a woman in her 60s were both suffering serious stab wounds. Paramedics were called, but tragically, the man was pronounced dead at the scene around 9.15pm.
Investigation Underway as Woman Fights for Life
A post-mortem confirmed the man died from stab wounds to his chest. Meanwhile, the woman was airlifted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol and remains in critical condition.
Dorset Police are keeping the victims’ families fully updated as the investigation intensifies.
Suspect Arrested in London, Assisting Police
A 34-year-old man from the Gillingham area was arrested on suspicion of murder that same evening, in Hammersmith, London. He required medical treatment for injuries not considered life-threatening.
Now released from hospital, the suspect – known to the victims – is helping detectives with their enquiries.
“Our thoughts remain with the family of the man who sadly died and the injured woman,” said Detective Inspector Simon Huxter. “A thorough investigation is ongoing to understand the full circumstances of this tragic event.”
“We urge anyone with information about the night of April 7 to come forward and speak to police.”
Police Appeal for Witnesses
A cordon remains in place around the Higher Langham address for forensic examinations. Officers are maintaining a heightened presence and are available for any community concerns.
