A major route through Somerstown is still closed to all traffic and pedestrians this afternoon after a savage attack left a 20-year-old man fighting for his life.

Police Search Continues After Bloody Attack

Middle Street is sealed off at Sackville Street, with the cordon extending into Peel Place, the scene of the assault. After the attack, the victim ran to the nearby King Street Tavern seeking help.

“The victim walked into the King Street Tavern asking for help having been attacked,” said the landlord. “Our staff called the ambulance service and gave assistance to the victim.”

Blood stains still mark the pavement and road behind the police barriers. A black balaclava was found nearby but police haven’t confirmed any connection to the crime.
