Man Jailed After Boy, 11, Killed in Hit-and-Run

Josh Osborne, just 11, was struck and killed by a car while crossing Court Road in April 2019.

75-Year-Old Found Guilty of Causing Death

After a tense week-long trial at Woolwich Crown Court, David Lockyer, 75, was convicted of causing death by careless driving and driving unlicensed. The jury also heard Lockyer had been drinking before crashing into Josh and fleeing the scene.

Josh tragically died two days later at the Royal London Hospital. Lockyer was handed a two-year prison sentence.

Shattered mum Victoria Battman, 39, launched Joshy’s Heart of Gold, a charity supporting families who’ve lost young loved ones or suffered serious injuries.

To mark what would have been Josh’s 15th birthday on January 12, Victoria set up a fundraiser — including a daring skydive scheduled for March 25 — to boost charity efforts and keep Josh’s memory alive.
