Ex-Sussex Cop Faked Serious Assault Claim, Faces Misconduct Hearing
Former Sussex police officer Tamzin Duncan, 20, has been caught out for lying about being the victim of a serious assault. The ex-PC faced an accelerated misconduct hearing on January 9 at Sussex Police HQ in Lewes, where the evidence against her was crystal clear.
False Claims and Dishonesty Exposed
Duncan reported a fake assault to police control on July 12, 2023. But investigations dug deeper and uncovered more bogus statements about the incident. On top of that, Duncan was dishonest during her vetting applications to Sussex Police, breaking the strict honesty and integrity rules expected from officers.
Chief Constable: She Would Have Been Fired
Chief Constable Shiner revealed Duncan had already quit before the hearing. Had she not resigned, she would have faced immediate dismissal.
“I expect our officers to act with the utmost integrity, and by the force’s values, the Code of Ethics and the Standards of Professional Behaviour. The conduct of this officer fell far short of those high standards,”
“Never has it been more important for the behaviours and actions of every person who serves within policing to be beyond exemplary.”
“As a Chief, I will continue to dismiss those whose conduct falls short of the high standards that I, my colleagues, and importantly, our communities rightly expect.”
