Murder Investigation Underway After Fatal Shooting in Brent
A murder investigation has been launched following a fatal shooting in Brent, northwest London, on Saturday evening.
Police were called to Gifford Road, NW10, at approximately 9:15 PM on December 14 after reports of gunfire. Officers and London Ambulance Service paramedics arrived at the scene to find a woman suffering from severe injuries. Despite the best efforts of emergency responders, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
While formal identification is yet to take place, police are confident the victim is 46-year-old Michelle Sadio. Her family is being supported by specialist officers as they come to terms with the tragic loss.
Two men, both in their 30s, were also injured in the incident. One remains in critical condition in hospital, while the other suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The shooting occurred outside the River of Life Elim Pentecostal Church, where approximately 120 people had gathered for a wake. Witnesses described chaotic scenes as gunshots rang out, causing attendees to flee for safety.
Pastor Lawrence Larbie, who was present, said: “There was chaos and pandemonium. The meeting came to an abrupt end. People knew the persons who had been shot.”
Superintendent Tony Josephs, of the North West Command Unit, called the incident “shocking and devastating.” He stated: “This is a truly shocking incident that has left a woman dead and two others injured. A family has been left devastated, and we need to work together to provide them with answers. A team of experienced detectives is working tirelessly to piece together the events of last night and identify whoever was responsible for this heinous act.”
As of now, no arrests have been made. Road closures remain in place around the area as forensic teams continue their investigation.
Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has information to come forward. They are asking individuals to contact them by calling 101 or messaging @MetCC on X (formerly Twitter), quoting reference 7137/14DEC.

The shooting has left the local community in shock, with residents voicing concerns about safety in the area. One neighbor remarked: “This is heartbreaking. It’s terrifying to think something like this could happen here.”
