A shocking turn of events unfolded on High Road near the junction with Whalesboirne Lane in Dagenham this evening, as a good Samaritan became the victim of a car collision while attempting to help a woman involved in a domestic violence incident.

Emergency services were called to the scene just after 10.20pm on Friday 1st November 2024 after reports of an overturned vehicle, identified as a Peugeot, which had crashed while trying to flee the area.

According to eyewitness accounts, a bystander who chose to remain anonymous described how his sister intervened after witnessing a woman being attacked by a man during a domestic altercation.

Acting swiftly, the bystander’s sister managed to place the distressed woman in her car and attempted to drive away from the scene. However, as she fled, her vehicle was struck, resulting in the car overturning at the busy junction of High Road and Welbourne Road.

Emergency services, including police, paramedics, and fire crews, arrived promptly to provide assistance. The vehicle was secured, and paramedics attended to those involved, ensuring that no serious injuries were sustained. The quick actions of emergency responders were commended, as they worked efficiently to make the scene safe.

Part of High Road has been cordoned off and blocked to facilitate the recovery and cleanup operations. Police have initiated an investigation to determine the events leading to the crash and whether any further action is necessary concerning the initial domestic violence incident.
