London Ambulance Service has issued a statement following a medical incident at Norwood Junction station on March 13.
Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 7:30 am after a passenger fell ill. Responding to the call, officers and London Ambulance Service crews arrived promptly to assist.
The ambulance response team included ambulance crews, a medic in a fast response car, an advanced paramedic, and an incident response officer.
Tragically, despite the efforts of the medical team, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after their arrival.
The incident, however, is not being treated as suspicious, according to a spokesperson for British Transport Police.
All services at Norwood Junction station were disrupted until approximately 10:30 am due to the incident, but normal operations have since resumed.
In their statement, a spokesperson for London Ambulance Service expressed their condolences, stating, “Sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.”
Similarly, British Transport Police confirmed the sequence of events, stating, “Officers were called to Norwood Junction station at around 7:30 am this morning following reports of a person suffering a medical emergency. Paramedics also attended, but despite their best efforts, the person sadly died.”
The identities of those involved have not been disclosed, respecting the privacy of the individuals and their families during this difficult time.
As investigations continue, authorities remind the public to prioritize their health and safety, especially when traveling on public transport.
